We are proud to announce that INNERVERSE, created by Dead End Gallery artist Arno Coenen, has been selected for the competition for the Gouden Kalf for Best Digital Culture Production 2026 at the Nederlands Film Festival.

INNERVERSE is one of twelve digital culture productions competing for this prestigious Dutch award. The selected works use forms such as immersive installations, virtual reality, apps and performances to explore storytelling beyond the traditional boundaries of film and television. A recurring theme within this year’s selection is the relationship between people, technology and meaning.

The selection marks an important recognition of Coenen’s ongoing exploration of technology, visual culture and the rapidly changing relationship between human creativity and digital systems.

During the first weekend of the festival, a professional jury will select three productions from the competition as official nominees. The winner of the Gouden Kalf for Best Digital Culture Production will be announced on Friday 2 October 2026, during the Gouden Kalveren Gala.

See INNERVERSE at Storyspace

INNERVERSE can be experienced by the public as part of the Storyspace exhibition at Bibliotheek Utrecht on the Neude.

Storyspace brings together all twelve productions selected for the competition. Through immersive and interactive forms, the exhibition presents stories that unfold outside the conventional formats of cinema and television.

The exhibition is open daily during the Nederlands Film Festival, from 25 September through 1 October 2026.

Our artist Irisa Nova is featured in the new TBI magaZIN, in a special interview with Charlie ter Horst, Head of AI at Croonwolter&dros.

The conversation, titled "It gets really interesting when AI starts talking back.”, explores what AI can mean for TBI and for the world. Not only as a tool for efficiency, but also as a way to ask sharper questions about responsibility, long-term thinking, strategic choices and the future we are building.

For this article, Irisa created a series of new works based on the way TBI looks at the future. Not only at what is being made, but also at the choices behind it and what those choices mean in the long term.

As Irisa says in the interview:

“The images I created for TBI are translations of an attitude. They are about taking responsibility, making choices, and the world we are shaping.”

We are proud to welcome Charlie Moon to Dead End Gallery.

Charlie Moon, the artistic identity of Charlotte Sophia de Jongh, is an interdisciplinary artist from Boxtel, the Netherlands. Her work moves between nature, science and technology, creating a poetic visual world where organic forms meet digital precision.

Her universe is filled with insects, beetles, flowers, fruits and sculptural objects: small natural wonders transformed into powerful contemporary icons. In her Little Heroes series, insects are celebrated as essential forces in our ecosystem, vital for pollination, balance and life itself.

At Dead End Gallery, Charlie Moon’s work feels like a natural new chapter. We have always believed that technology is not the enemy of art, but a new language for imagination. Our gallery was founded around AI artists with their own identities, characters and stories, and with Charlie Moon we welcome a flesh-and-blood artist who explores the same frontier from another direction: where nature, technology and imagination meet.

Her objects and prints bring a refined, colourful and almost talismanic energy into the gallery. Inspired by transformation, resilience and the hidden intelligence of nature, Charlie Moon’s work reminds us that the future of art may not be cold or mechanical at all. It may be blooming, buzzing and alive.

In een recent artikel "Kunst zonder mens" van Guido Hogenbirk in het blad Quest wordt het werk "Garden of Thought" van Jaxon Nash getoond.

Om de vraag over AI en kunst te illustreren plaatst het artikel het werk naast een paar belangrijke werken uit de kunstgeschiedenis:

• Fountain - Marcel Duchamp
• The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living - Damien Hirst
• David - Michelangelo
• Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) - Jackson Pollock

Dit levert een interessante vraag op:

Kan AI ook zo’n radicaal artistiek gebaar maken?

Malevich schilderde een simpele vorm en veranderde de kunstgeschiedenis.
Duchamp zette een urinoir in een museum en de definitie van kunst verschoof.
Pollock verlegde de grenzen van wat schilderen kon zijn.

Dus de vraag is eigenlijk:
Kan een nieuwe technologie ook nieuwe kunst voortbrengen?

Bij Dead End Gallery onderzoeken we precies dat. We werken met kunstenaars die nieuwe technieken en manieren van maken verkennen.

Uiteindelijk gaat het , vooralsnog...., om één ding:
Is het werk interessant, creatief en origineel?
