Life of Tree is a video sculpture in which form and motion merge into a single artistic presence. A polished, chrome-like structure rises like an abstracted branch, a network, or root system, cradling an LCD screen. Inside the display, a looping video 'Inner Life' pulses with liquid colour and digital motion, evoking the inner life of a tree.

In this video-sculpture, the physical form and the moving image are inseparable. It is a ‘phygital’ work, which bridges art, design, craft, and digital poetics, offering a tactile yet technologically alive presence. The artwork explores the transition between virtual and physical realms, grounding the digital image within a sculptural body of reflective materiality, while the video is breathing life and motion into the static sculpture, creating a dialogue between matter and image.

Life of Tree was conceived in an ‘AI-to-real’ process. The artistic work has brought AI to the physical world, transformed pixels to atoms, and light to matter. It is a design created through a collaboration between the artist and AI, inspired by the history of art and culture, resulting in a new hybrid of data, form, and motion.

The work is part of the Neural Forest project that aims to solve the challenge of collecting and preserving virtual video files, giving the moving image a captivating physical presence in the form of sculptures combining the natural and the technological. A pioneering project, utilising AI and futuristic way of thought, creating physical-digital objects that can be obtained and preserved in the actual world.

Neural Forest in general and Life of Tree in particular come as an antidote to the noise of the saturated screen-based metaverse. It provides a place of solace to escape the noise but embraces the exciting new digital culture of now and the future, presented in an eternal dynamic form. It’s a tactile physical form with deep roots in the digital, creating a non-detachable hybrid, a network spreading over the virtual and physical worlds, like a forest.
